Beverages in Schools

How does PepsiCo help schools with appropriate beverage choices for students?

We believe that schools are a special place and take special care in selling and marketing our products in this unique environment. We offer K - 12 schools only beverages that meet federal, state and local laws and the School Beverage Guidelines developed by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation - a joint initiative of the American Heart Association and the William J. Clinton Foundation. In addition, we have committed not to advertise our brands through promotions, give-aways, or other marketing activities in elementary or middle schools.

What beverages can and cannot be offered to schools under the School Beverage Guidelines?

  • We do not offer full-calorie soft drinks for students in K - 12 schools
  • We do not offer energy drinks for students in K - 12 schools
  • We offer diet drinks and sports drinks for high school students only (sports drinks are offered in 12 oz sizes)
  • We offer only water, juice and milk for elementary and middle school students

How do I know what beverages you offer to schools in my state?

Since state laws vary widely, we've created product lists for each state to help schools and parents know what's available. This is a good place to get started.
